The Berry Islands are known for larger-than-average Bonefish and a legitimate Permit fishery. Expect technical, quality-over-quantity fishing across diverse flats, with Triggerfish, Mutton Snapper, Barracuda, and other species rounding out the program.
Versatile Skiff & Wading Program
Firm white-sand flats create excellent wading opportunities, while shallow-running Maverick skiffs provide access to turtle grass, mangroves, creeks, and ocean edges. Short runs allow each day to be planned around the tides, conditions, target species, and anglers’ goals.

The strongest combined window for Bonefish and Permit. Warm water can produce multiple quality shots at both species, although this period overlaps hurricane season and fishing remains dependent on stable weather.
Cooler conditions offer the season’s best opportunity to hunt large, mature Bonefish, often as singles or small groups. Permit remain available but are less predictable, and passing cold fronts can temporarily slow the fishing.
More stable spring weather brings consistent Bonefish opportunities, with fish commonly found in larger schools. Permit fishing improves as the water warms, while Triggerfish and other resident species provide additional options.
Warm water and generally stable weather create an excellent multi-species window. Permit fishing can be especially productive as temperatures climb, with steady Bonefish opportunities and increased chances at Mutton Snapper and other flats species.

Accommodations
Soul Fly Lodge accommodates a maximum of eight anglers across six ensuite guest rooms, maintaining an intimate atmosphere even at full capacity. Rooms can accommodate shared or single occupancy and feature comfortable beds, air conditioning, and private bathrooms. Guests also enjoy indoor and outdoor gathering areas, an on-site fly shop, a 20-by-50-foot freshwater pool overlooking the Atlantic, and easy beach access.
Food
Chef Valentino Adderley and the lodge team serve three meals daily, emphasizing fresh Bahamian seafood and locally sourced ingredients. Guests begin with a made-to-order breakfast, take a packed lunch onto the water, and gather in the dining room for a plated dinner. Beer, wine, spirits, mixers, and nonalcoholic beverages are included through the lodge’s 24-hour self-serve bar.
Connectivity
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge and in each guest room. Cellular service varies by carrier and international plan, so guests should confirm coverage before traveling. Electrical outlets use the same 110-volt standard found in the United States.

9-Day Itinerary
Each day is carefully planned to maximize your fishing success while experiencing the best of what this destination has to offer. Itineraries are flexible based on conditions and guest preferences.
A typical seven-night, six-day trip begins with a flight to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), followed by an overnight stay in the Fort Lauderdale area. Arriving a day early provides a comfortable buffer before the following morning’s flight from nearby Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.
Transfer to Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) and board the approximately one-hour Makers Air flight to Great Harbour Cay (GHC). After clearing customs and immigration on the island, a Soul Fly Lodge representative will meet you for the short drive to the lodge. Settle into your room, prepare equipment, and enjoy your first dinner overlooking the Atlantic. Guests may also reach Great Harbour Cay through Nassau when that route better suits their flight schedule.
Each fishing day begins with fresh coffee and a made-to-order breakfast before the short transfer to the marina. Your guide will plan the day around tides, weather, and fishing goals, combining poling from a Maverick skiff with opportunities to wade firm white-sand flats. Lunch is served on the water, and anglers return to the lodge in the late afternoon to relax by the pool, enjoy appetizers and cocktails, and gather for a chef-prepared dinner.
After breakfast, a lodge representative will transfer you to Great Harbour Cay Airport for the return flight to Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport or Nassau. Continue onward to your home destination. Depending on airline schedules, an additional night in Florida or Nassau may be recommended.

Guests fly into Great Harbour Cay Airport (GHC). Makers Air offers an approximately one-hour flight from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE), while flights from Nassau take approximately 20 minutes. Soul Fly provides round-trip transfers between the Great Harbour Cay airport and the lodge.
Bonefish and Permit are the primary targets, but the Berry Islands also offer opportunities for Triggerfish, Mutton Snapper, Barracuda, jacks, and other flats species. Tarpon are occasionally encountered but are not considered a dependable target.
Soul Fly Lodge operates from September through June and closes during July and August. September through November offers the strongest combined opportunities for Bonefish and Permit, winter is best for hunting large Bonefish, and March through June generally provides stable weather and consistent multi-species fishing.
The Berry Islands offer quality-over-quantity Bonefishing across white-sand flats, turtle grass, mangrove creeks, and ocean edges. Bonefish average approximately 3–4 pounds, with regular opportunities at fish from 5–8 pounds and the possibility of a 10-pound-plus trophy. Anglers may encounter singles, small groups, and large schools.
Permit fishing is one of Soul Fly Lodge’s defining attractions. The Berry Islands provide legitimate shots at cruising, tailing, and ray-following Permit, but the fishing remains technical and success is often measured by the number of quality opportunities created. The strongest Permit windows typically occur during spring and fall.
Yes. First-time flats anglers are welcome, and the guides tailor each day to the guest’s experience and goals. Many Bonefish shots occur within 30–50 feet, making accuracy, stealth, and a quiet presentation more important than extreme casting distance. Dedicated Permit fishing is considerably more demanding.
Both. The firm white-sand flats surrounding Great Harbour Cay provide excellent wading opportunities, while Maverick skiffs allow guides to pole deeper edges, turtle-grass flats, mangrove shorelines, and other habitats. The day’s approach depends on tides, weather, target species, and angler preference.
An 8-weight outfit is the standard choice for Bonefish, while a 9- or 10-weight is recommended for Permit, Barracuda, and larger species. Anglers should bring tropical floating lines, dependable saltwater reels, leaders, tippet, and appropriate flies. Soul Fly maintains a fleet of demo rods and an on-site fly shop, but terminal tackle is not included.
Rates vary by trip length and room-and-skiff configuration, with options ranging from shared accommodations and a shared skiff to a private room, private skiff, and private guide. Packages include guided fishing, lodging, meals, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, and Great Harbour Cay airport transfers. Airfare, fishing licenses, terminal tackle, gratuities, and 10% VAT are not included.
Yes. Although Soul Fly is a fishing-focused lodge, non-anglers can book hotel-only or all-inclusive stays, subject to availability. The lodge offers an ocean-view pool, beach access, excellent dining, and opportunities to arrange snorkeling, sightseeing, island excursions, and other activities around Great Harbour Cay.
