Bauer SLT Fly Reel

An all-new offering from Bauer, their SLT Reel brings high-quality performance in an ultra-tough and ultra-lightweight design that's ready for anything from 10-pound bonefish to true brutes like GTs and blackfin. At the heart of their SLT mission, Bauer begins by redesigning their tried-and-true clutch mechanism by adding additional power and maximizing what can be done with a totally sealed carbon fiber and stainless steel drag. Once they mastered the core of this reel, they didn't stop there. Bauer then fine-tuned things even further by adding an incremental drag adjustment, enhancing the knurling on the knob for even easier adjustment, and perfecting the porting to make things super lightweight while also allowing your backing to dry quickly in between salty outings. All of this was done while maintaining Bauer's long-standing statement of making the smoothest fly reel in the world. Crafted in Twin Bridges, Montana, Bauer's new SLT Reel has a size that accommodates rod weights 7 through 13 so that you can tame just about any saltwater fish you can locate.

Design

Narrow Large Arbor Saltwater Design - The design of Bauer's SLT Reel is built around being lightweight, efficient, durable, and able to get your line back on the spool quickly. They've accomplished this with a large arbor and narrow construction that has extra reinforcements on the spool and frame, as well as just the right amount of porting, so if a pelagic fish takes off straight at you, you can keep up. Bauer also took the drag knob into consideration on the SLT and made it conveniently knurled and pretty large in diameter to make fine-tuning in the heat of a battle stress-free.

Finish
Durable Anodized Finish - A finish that will last years of tough use, Bauer utilizes an anodized finish on the SLT. This finish can withstand salty environments, the occasional ding, and it will wonderfully resist corrosion and salt buildup. 5-Axis Machining also works to reduce weight and further increase the strength of this reel. Available in a blue, silver, and black anodized finish, the SLT has an option whether you want a bright or more subtle appearance to your setup.

Materials
Premium Aluminum & Stainless Steel - Bauer constructs the SLT Reel out of a combination of Type II anodized 6061 aluminum, 7075 aluminum, and stainless steel to make it lightweight, ultra-durable, and able to hold its own in the toughest environments on even the longest trips.

Drag
High-Performance Stacked Drag - Bauer is known for having the smoothest drag in the world, and their SLT Reel takes that to the next level. This fresh drag design from Bauer is made with an alternating stack of steel and carbon fiber. This duo of materials efficiently disperses heat and has extremely smooth engagement no matter how hard a fish hits your fly. This drag is also fully sealed to keep anything from getting in, and a low-durometer oversized O-ring provides consistency across every click of the drag knob. The SLT's drag knob also has two full turns of drag, and at its lowest setting puts out 0.4lbs of drag while the highest setting has a whopping 21lbs of drag.

Materials - The SLT's drag is made up of alternating stacks of steel and carbon fiber. These premium materials ensure that you have an incredibly smooth drag that you can rely on whether you're 3,000 miles from home or on your ninth inning of your longest saltwater season yet.

Arbor Size
Large Arbor - Bauer makes the SLT Reel with a large arbor that has a narrow construction. This design choice makes for super fast line pickup while also making for clean line stacking.

Warranty
Bauer Warranty - As of August 2024, Bauer's SLT Fly Reel has a limited lifetime warranty. This warranty covers defects in workmanship or materials for the lifetime of the original buyer when bought from an authorized Bauer dealer. Bauer withholds the right to repair or replace the reel at their own discretion and this warranty does not cover incidental or consequential damage.
