Condition Notes
This EF Payne 97 is beautifully refinished using the original hardware. The seat is an aluminum uplocking screw lock with the "Payne" stamp in a cartouche and "Reg US Pat Off." The spacer is Spanish cedar. The handle looks to be a replacement for the original, measuring 6.5in with a hidden pocket cap. The wraps are brown with red, yellow, and purple at the keeper and male ferrules and gold edges on the main wraps. The ferrules retain all of the oxidation. The varnish is heavier than the original but very nice and glass-like. Each section is full-length and straight. Each tip fits snugly. It was ordered with a third tip by the original owner. The rod weighs 3.15oz on my scale. Comes in the original tube and sock minus hangtag.
