Description

The Simms G4Z Stockingfoot Waders are built for anglers who want real breathability without giving up the toughness needed for sharp rocks, brush, and long hikes. They keep you dry without trapping that plastic-bag feeling during hard walks and long drifts. As a stockingfoot design, they pair with your choice of wading boots for better fit control and easier dialing-in for different seasons.

Features

Fabric - The G4Z uses a 3-layer GORE-TEX Pro Shell upper and a 4-layer GORE-TEX Pro Shell lower to balance comfort up top with maximum armor where it matters most. The lighter upper helps reduce bulk and keeps the waders moving with you when you are casting, rowing, or scrambling up a bank. The heavier lower adds abrasion, puncture, and tear resistance in the legs, which is where most waders get chewed up first. This layup also helps the waders stay supportive and structured, so they do not feel flimsy when you are climbing over deadfall or kneeling to land a fish. Each wader is individually tested for waterproofness in Bozeman, Montana, USA, and is made in the USA of imported materials.

Suspension / Fit System - The adjustable spacer air-mesh suspender system is built for long days, with comfort-focused materials that help prevent hot spots on your shoulders. Opposing Duraflex buckles make it simple to drop the top and run them waist-high when the day heats up, and the fabric suspender divider helps keep the straps organized and stable. Built-in, lower profile GORE-TEX belt loops add strength and durability where a lot of waders can stretch or wear over time. When you cinch a wading belt through these loops, you get a secure fit for safety and a more locked-in feel when moving through current.

Pocket Configuration - Up front, you get two zippered chest pockets with integrated retractor docking stations, so key tools stay clipped and easy to grab. There are also zippered, micro-fleece lined handwarmer pockets, which add both storage and a welcome break for cold hands between drifts. The pocket layout is built around quick access, so you can keep tippet, leaders, and small boxes where you can reach them without digging. Everything is positioned to keep your core storage up high and out of the water while you wade deep.

Storage/Pockets

The G4Z is set up with chest storage and hand storage that work the way guides and hard-fishing anglers need them to. The two zippered chest pockets keep essentials secure, and the integrated retractor docking stations give you a clean place to park nippers, hemostats, or a zinger so they do not swing around. The zippered, micro-fleece lined handwarmer pockets pull double duty, they warm cold hands and hold small items you want close. Because the storage sits on the chest and stays above the wading belt line, it stays usable when you are wearing a belt, and it is easier to access while wading. For durability in high-wear zones, the waders use patented front and back leg seams for mobility and added toughness, which helps reduce stress in the inner-leg and crotch area during big steps and repeated climbs. The built-in 2mm abrasion resistant gravel guards help seal out sand and pebbles, and they protect the lower leg area that often takes the most abuse.

Suspension System

The spacer air-mesh suspender system is made to spread weight comfortably and breathe on warm hikes, instead of trapping sweat under heavy straps. Adjustments are straightforward, and the opposing Duraflex buckles make waist-high conversion fast when you want to cool down or make a quick gear change. The added fabric suspender divider helps the straps sit clean and stay in place while you move, row, or scramble up steep banks. Down low, the anatomically engineered neoprene stockingfeet are shaped for comfort and include an anti-microbial finish. Simms also uses patented compression-molded stockingfeet to improve boot fit and reduce pressure points, which helps when you lace boots tight for steep trails or strong current.

Why We Like It

The G4Z Stockingfoot Waders stand out because they are built like a true work tool, not a light-duty wader that needs kid gloves. The 3-layer upper and 4-layer lower GORE-TEX Pro Shell layout delivers a smart mix of breathability and serious leg protection, so you can hike, kneel, and push through rough banks without constantly worrying about pinholes. The waterproof front zipper is a big real-world upgrade for comfort and convenience, and it makes gearing up and getting out of waders easier at the truck. Add in the refined suspender system, strong belt-loop design, and purpose-built pocket layout, and you get a wader that is ready for hard use day after day.

Other Features

Front Zipper and Leg Design - The extended YKK waterproof zipper is built for quick relief and easier on and off, especially when you are layering up in cold weather. It also helps with venting when you are hiking between runs or rowing a long stretch. Patented front and back leg seams improve mobility, so big steps and high-knee moves feel smoother in uneven river bottoms. That seam layout also helps the waders handle repeated flexing and abrasion in the zones that usually fail first. The patented 2mm abrasion resistant built-in gravel guards add another layer of protection and keep debris from working into your boots.
