Description

The Scientific Anglers Stillwater Parabolic Sink Fly Line is a Sink 3/Sink 5/Sink 3 lake line that sinks in a U-shaped profile. The heavier middle sinks first, so the line sweeps through a large part of the water column. It suits the stillwater angler searching for the depth where fish are holding.

Best For

Searching the Water Column - The U-shaped sink profile moves flies through a range of depths on each retrieve. SA built it for searching large portions of the water column.

Nymphs and Streamers - SA lists nymph and streamer fishing for trout as this line's use.

Temperature / Conditions

SA rates the Stillwater series for cold to moderate fresh water. It is a lake and pond line for trout.

Taper / Weight / Design

The Stillwater Parabolic Sink is a weight-forward line with a 45' head and a 100' total length. SA overweights it by two line weights to carry multiple flies and long leaders and to make longer casts. The first 30' of the 5-weight weighs 185gr, the weight of a standard 7-weight. It comes in 5 through 8 weight.

Features

Parabolic Sink 3/Sink 5/Sink 3 - A Sink 5 section sits between two Sink 3 sections, which makes the U-shaped profile.

Seamless Density - The densities blend into each other with no abrupt step. This removes the hinge between sections and gives you a straight-line connection to the fly.

Textured Hang Markers - Textured markers sit 10' and 20' from the tip. You can feel them on the retrieve and hold the flies in the hang before you lift.

AST Plus - SA mixes its AST Plus slickness additive into the coating. The slicker surface shoots farther and holds up longer than a standard coating.

SA Line ID - The line is printed with "SA SD PRBLC WF X S# S# S#" (X is the line weight). You can tell spools apart at a glance.

Welded Loops - Welded loops make leader and backing connections quick.
