Description
Hareline Thin Fly Foam is just the right size for tying high-floating Trout, Panfish, and Bass flies. Use it for wings and bodies on flies to create waterproof, high-floating flies that virtually never sink. Match it with one of the River Road Creations cutters, and the possibilities are endless.
Uses
Patterns and Tying Techniques - This fly foam can be used as a body, like in a Chernobyl Ant or a Morrish Hopper. Use it as a wing for caddis or stonefly patterns like the Umpqua Foam Caddis. It is the perfect size for poppers like Crease Flies and the Umpqua Swigle Frog. It can also be cut into strips and used as parachute posts.
Comparisons
Fly Foam vs. Evazote Foam - Hareline's Fly Foam is available in 17 different colors, including fly-tying-specific colors like Insect Green and Root Beer, whereas Evazote is only available in black or white. The Fly Foam comes with two sheets per pack, and the Evazote has four sheets per pack. Fly Foam also tends to hold up better to fish teeth and is more durable. Both take a marker equally well.
Example Flies
