I find myself finding more

Whether you’re adding flash to a large streamer like a Hollow Fleye or dubbing an extra-bright body, Hareline’s Ice Wing is just the right choice. A super-versatile material, Ice Wing is a fine fiber that’s roughly 8” long, allowing you to tie it in as flash on streamers or dub bodies/thoraxes on nymphs and emergers. Hareline makes their Ice Wing in a huge range of colors, so whether you’re adding a subtle amount of flash or want to create a hotspot, this material does it all. Each pack contains a robust amount of fibers and is perfect for use in both fresh and saltwater. You’ll quickly find that Ice Wing is a material that goes a long way in all of your tying.
Uses
Ice Wing can be used in a ton of different ways. Most commonly, it’s added into streamers as a flash material–it works especially well with Bucktail and synthetic flies–or incorporated into dubbing loops and to dub bodies on nymphs, emergers, and even streamers. However, Ice Wing is also a great choice when tying wings into streamers, and we use it almost exclusively when tying Dave Skok’s Mushmouth Fly.
Comparisons
While there are countless options for flash in the world of fly tying, many other options are thicker and a bit less limp than Ice Wing. One comparable option, however, is Larva Lace’s Angel Hair. Just like Ice Wing, Angel Hair is a thin-diameter flash material that’s roughly 6”-8” long, so you can use it as flash in streamers or to create dubbing loops or dub bodies and thoraxes. These two materials are quite similar and can be used nearly interchangeably, but there is some variation in colors, so depending on what you’re tying, one option may be a better fit.

"This material is great and works well for me as I tie flies for many different species. The longer strands allow me to tie my big saltwater flies, but I can still cut it down for my smaller stream flies. Easily blends with other materials and helps catch fish. More color choices than you could ever need."
