Description
The Hardy Tactus Nymphing Fly Rod is a technical Euro rod that refuses to make you pick one presentation and live with it. Tight-line nymphing asks two contradictory things of a tip: soft enough to register a take and protect fine tippet, stiff enough to move a heavy point fly and set at distance. The Tactus Nymph answers that with a two tip system, so you can change the character of the rod to match the water instead of changing rods. Underneath that it is a Sintrix FLT blank with exceptional tippet protection and real power reserves for bigger fish, running from a 10ft 2in 2wt up to a long-reach 11ft 2in 2wt.
Blank
Sintrix FLT Resin - The Tactus is built on Hardy's Sintrix FLT resin, which the brand positions as their ultimate strength-to-weight ratio. On the water that shows up as high recovery: the blank stops moving when you stop moving it, which is what actually maximises accuracy and control at range. The blanks are finished in olive.
Two Tip System - Each Tactus Nymph ships with two tip sections so you can optimise presentation for the water in front of you: the softer tip for maximum tippet protection and take detection on light rigs, the firmer one for heavier flies, stronger flows and larger fish. This is why the rods are supplied as 4 plus 1 sections rather than a straight four piece.
Guides
Titanium Fuji Stripper Guides - Fuji stripping guides in a titanium frame, chosen to be both lightweight and durable. Titanium takes an impact and keeps its shape rather than deforming, which matters on a long rod that spends its life leaning against things.
Recoil Snake Guides - Recoil snakes carry the same logic through the rest of the blank. They spring back after being bent instead of staying bent, and they keep weight off the tip where it costs you the most in swing weight.
Reel Seat
Custom Reel Seat - Hardy specified a custom reel seat for the Tactus, built to be lightweight and secure. On a light-line rod the reel seat is a meaningful share of total mass, so trimming it is a real gain rather than a spec-sheet one.
Warranty
Hardy rods are covered by their Worldwide Extended Warranty. This warranty is straightforward: for a $75 handling fee it covers the repair or replacement of your rod. Registration details and current fees are worth confirming with Hardy at the time of purchase.
