The Hardy Firecrest Fly Rod is for the days the forecast told you to stay home. Wind on the water, a weighted streamer or an indicator rig on the end, and a fish that will not come to a delicate presentation anyway. The Firecrest is a fast action series optimised for aggressive tapers and heavy fly lines rated half to a full size or more over standard, with a powerful butt section that handles sink tips and large fish without folding. It runs from a 9ft 5wt described as the ultimate casters fishing rod through to 10ft 7wt and 8wt models for single-hand salmon, seatrout and steelhead work.

Sintrix FLT - The Firecrest uses Hardy's Sintrix FLT resin for their ultimate strength-to-weight ratio, which on a fast rod is what buys you power without a club in your hand. The high recovery blank translates directly into distance and line speed in strong winds or with heavy rigs.

Fast Action and Powerful Butt Section - The taper is deliberately aggressive and optimised for lines rated 0.5 to 1.0 or more over nominal. Anglers who habitually overline a rod to load it quickly will find the Firecrest is already built for that. The butt section is the point of the rod: it is what turns over a sink tip, drives into wind, and stops a large fish. Blanks are finished in black.
