Description

The Echo Trout Fly Rod is built around a problem no single trout rod really solves. Trout eat everything from a size 28 midge to a six inch baitfish, and they do it in remote ponds, low country brooks, swift freestone rivers, clear limestone creeks and deep reservoirs, sometimes all in the same afternoon. Rather than chase every one of those scenarios with a single taper, Echo picked the distance where most trout fishing actually happens, the 30 to 50 foot sweet spot, and built a family of rods that casts flies and lines of very different sizes and densities inside that window.

What separates the Trout series from one taper stretched across five line weights is that each size gets its own action, tuned to what that rod is normally asked to do. The light line weights are built to protect fine tippet, while the 6-weights are reinforced to carry sinking lines, meatier flies and more line in the air. The result is a range that covers small dry flies, indicator nymph rigs, wet flies, sink tips and articulated streamers without asking one blank to pretend it is good at all of them. A custom handle profile and a removable fighting butt add the kind of versatility few trout specific rods bother with.

Blank

Graphite Construction - Echo builds the Trout blanks from high quality graphite and keeps every model light in the hand, which reduces fatigue over a long day and improves casting efficiency. The graphite layup is durable enough to hold up to hard travel and rough wading in the kind of places that hold trophy fish and solitude.

Size Specific Tip Sections - Unlike Echo's other rod series, every size in the Trout lineup has a unique action suited to its typical application. In the lighter weights Echo used a fast action design with an ultra sensitive tip section to protect light tippets. On the 6-weights the tip section is strengthened to carry heavier sinking lines and meatier flies, and to lift more line when you need it.

Sweet Spot Taper - Rather than optimize for maximum distance, the taper is set up to handle flies and lines of varying size and density at the 30 to 50 foot range where most trout are caught.

Finish - A subdued grey semigloss finish keeps the looks understated and reduces line stick against the blank, and the thread wraps are done in a matching blue.

Guides

Echo does not publish a guide specification for this rod, so we are not going to name a brand, a material or a count that we cannot stand behind. Echo does publish guide details for the Trout X, but that is a different rod and those specs do not belong here. If the guide train matters to your decision, get in touch and we will check a rod in hand before you order.

Reel Seat

Anodized Aluminum Reel Seat - Lightweight, durable and uplocking, the anodized aluminum seat was chosen specifically to cut down on the maintenance your gear needs. A blue anodized sliding hood matches the blue thread wraps on the blank, and the seat carries the Echo signature.

Removable Fighting Butt - A fighting butt threads onto the back of the reel seat whenever you are fishing bigger water and bigger fish, and comes off again when you want a clean grip for close in dry fly work.

Custom Handle Shape - The handle is shaped to work with more than one hold, so you can fish thumb on top, finger on top, or an extended finger grip depending on how much control you want over the tip.

Rod Tube

Every Trout model ships in a fabric covered hard case. All five models are four piece, so the packed length stays short enough to travel with.

Warranty

Echo rods are covered against defects in materials and workmanship for the natural life of the rod for the original owner, at the discretion of Rajeff Sports, and the rod must have been purchased from an authorized dealer. If a rod fails because of a manufacturing defect, Echo handles it as a warranty claim with no charge. If a rod breaks during normal fishing use, casting, line management or fighting a fish, Echo will repair or replace it for a service fee while the model is in current production and repairable. Echo does not publish a flat fee figure because the fee level differs by rod model and by the determined cause of failure, so you will be quoted at claim time. If a rod is a discontinued model or is not repairable, Echo may offer a current equivalent replacement at 50 percent off MSRP. Damage from neglect or abuse is not covered, which includes rods closed in car doors, saltwater corrosion, mold, extended sun exposure, abrasion from travelling uncovered, and rods used in outfitter, rental or lodge fleets.
