The Daiichi 2571 is a forged, short-shanked, heavy wire, Sproat bend, hook designed for tying Steelhead flies on. This hook is a bit unique as far as steelhead hooks go because it is designed with dead-drifted patterns in mind. While swinging flies for steelhead may be the only pure way to fish for steelhead, there is no denying the effectiveness of fishing eggs, nymphs, and stoneflies in a dead drift. The reason why these hooks are so great for targeting big fish is that the heavy wire will give you added confidence when you're fighting them, and also help sink your fly right down to the bottom where the fish are. The short shank will also create a wider gape to increase hooking effectiveness on bigger, powerful fish. With a slight down eye to boot, you'll want to start using this hook on your steelhead eggs and nymphs.
