Description
The Cortland MKIIX Nymph Fly Rod is the next step up from the Competition MkII for anglers who fish tight-line and Euro nymphing rigs all season and want more feel from a lighter, stiffer blank. Cortland reinforces the blank resin with graphene nano particles, which lets the rod use a thinner wall for the same strength. The result is a rod that tracks straight, telegraphs the smallest tick on the bottom and puts the fly where you aim it. It is built for trout water of every size, from 10ft 6in rods for creeks and pocket water to 11ft rods for big rivers where reach and line control matter most.
Blank
The MKIIX blank is graphite reinforced with impregnated graphene nano particles (GNP). The reinforced resin makes a strong, rigid structure with less material, so the wall is thinner than a standard blank. Thinner walls improve tracking, sensitivity and accuracy. Cortland finishes the blank with its Hybrid Blank Texture (HBT), which keeps the crisp, fast dampening feel of a fully sanded blank while the partially sanded surface reduces line tension when the blank is wet. Alignment dots on each section make assembly quick.
Guides
Stripping Guides - Fine wire single-foot guides keep weight off the blank and let thin nymphing lines and long leaders pass cleanly.
Snake Guides - Fine wire snake guides, two of them on the tip section, hold the line close to the blank for better control during the drift.
Reel Seat
An anodized down-locking reel seat moves the reel toward the butt to balance the long rod in a high-stick position. A no-slide positive alignment hood and dual locking rings keep the reel seated through a full day of casting. The three cork models have a flor grade cork grip and a cork composite fighting butt. The 10ft 6in 3wt Tactical model has a carbon fiber handle and an EVA foam fighting butt.
Rod Tube
Each rod ships in a black aircraft grade aluminum tube with a cloth rod bag.
Warranty
The MKIIX is covered by Cortland's manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Contact Cortland for current terms.
