Description
The Clear Wing Spinner is a Trico pattern that imitates a dead fly that lands on the surface of the water during a 'spinner fall'. Tricos hatch, land on the water to lay eggs, then die and fall to the water where trout capitalize on an easy meal with reckless abandon. This fly features obvious spread wings, a split tail, and a thread body to keep the profile slim and small. Use this fly in the western US on tailwaters like the Missouri River, where Tricos hatch in large numbers. This is a technical dry fly that should only be used on freshwater rivers, streams, and spring creeks where Tricos are prevalent.
