Description

Rabbit Strips have long been a staple fly-tying material for tyers around the world. Many people think of freshwater flies when they think of rabbit strips, but these strips can be used to tie a variety of different streamers. These strips offer a flowing, full profile to any streamer and are great for freshwater and saltwater flies alike. Hareline’s selection includes a large variety of colors and styles. Hareline Crosscut Rabbit Fur Strips are perfect for creating a full body with plenty of movement.

Uses

Patterns and Tying Techniques - Typically, Hareline Crosscut Rabbit Strips are used to palmer bodies on streamers. They are cut across the grain of the fur. This ensures that when you wrap the strip, the fur will lie back evenly.

Comparisons

Crosscut Rabbit Fur Strips vs Rabbit Strips - The main difference between the Crosscut Rabbit Fur Strips and the standard Rabbit Strips is how they are cut from the hide. The Crosscut strips are cut across the grain, as the name implies. This makes them ideal for wrapping bodies where you want a full-flowing profile. They are not suited for use as tails like regular rabbit strips are.

Example Flies

Patterns -These strips are perfect for tying streamers, including the Fish Skull Skulpin Bunny and the Bunny Leech. They can also be used for collars on Tarpon Bunnies and jig streamers.

Pack Size and Physical Description
Approximate Dimensions - These strips are approximately 8 inches in length with a base strip width of approximately ¼ inch. The rabbit hare itself is roughly a half-inch long.

Hairline rabbit strips

"If I’m being honest when I think of hairline I think of a mass producer of tying materials. And that’s generally not a good thing in terms of quality materials. However, their rabbit strips have always been as high quality as other brands and usually less expensive. If you are picky with materials like me, you can trust hairlines rabbit strips to be good quality. I primarily use them for bonito bunnies and a few variations and can say rabbit fur is some of the easier material to work with, and results in the most seductive fly movement when in the water."

"Love the product! I use it on a lot of my bass, steelhead, and salmon flies. I will continue to use as long as this product is available. Would recommend to anyone whom ties."
