Premier Permit Fishery

The Punta Gorda region offers some of the most consistent Permit fishing in Belize, with a mix of smaller flats, coral structure, and low fishing pressure. Bonefish and resident Tarpon round out a highly capable, year-round fishery.

Remote Low-Pressure Flats

Southern Belize sees far fewer anglers than the north, creating a quieter, more exploratory experience with less pressured fish and more water to yourself.

Luxury Jungle Lodge Experience

Copal Tree pairs high-end accommodations with a true jungle setting, featuring spacious suites, an infinity pool, and a refined, comfortable atmosphere between fishing days.

Exceptional Beyond the Fishing

From farm tours and jungle adventures to spa treatments and cultural experiences, Copal Tree offers one of the most complete lodge experiences in Belize for couples and non-anglers alike.

Seasonal Fishing
Calendar

December - February
70-85 °F
Permit Tarpon Bonefish

Cooler, drier conditions with occasional cold fronts. Resident Tarpon and Bonefish provide consistent opportunities, while Permit remain available but can be more weather dependent during extended cool periods.

March - May
75-85 °F
Permit Tarpon Bonefish

One of the best overall windows of the year. Warming water and stable weather improve consistency across the board, with some of the most reliable Permit fishing of the season alongside steady shots at Bonefish and resident Tarpon.

June - August
80-90 °F
Permit Tarpon Bonefish

Prime Permit season. Warm water and longer days create excellent conditions for targeting Permit on the flats, while Bonefish and resident Tarpon remain active. Expect hot, humid weather with occasional rain.

September - November
75-85 °F
Permit Tarpon Bonefish

A productive fall period with fewer anglers on the water. Permit fishing can still be very good when weather patterns cooperate, while Bonefish and resident Tarpon continue to provide consistent opportunities throughout the system.
