Description
It's an overcast day, there have been off-and-on storms overnight, and the water is a bit cloudy but maintains that "fishy green" color. The only option on the table is to strip articulated streamers all day long in search of a true hog, and with their Superflo Ridge 2.0 Streamer Max Line, Airflo has created the perfect tool for this job, whether your buddy is on the paddles and you're on the bow or you're slowly working your way downstream on foot. Made with a fast sinking head and intermediate body, this line works perfectly whether you're dredging something heavy like a Circus Peanut or working something more buoyant like a Zoo Cougar a bit higher in the column, and with an aggressive taper and extra long head (40'), this line makes long-distance casts easy while also letting you keep your fly in the zone all the way to the boat. Featuring Airflo's 2.0 Ridge Tech and a variety of line weight options running from a 6/7-weight to an 8/9-weight, this line has everything that you need to bomb 8" long Dungeons across the bank all day long or work smaller streamers like a classic Wooly Bugger.
Features
Micro Loop, 2.0 Ridge Tech, and Low Stretch - Airflo created their Superflo Ridge 2.0 Streamer series for casting large articulated flies, chasing the biggest predators of the system, and effectively presenting a wide variety of fly patterns. They've outfitted these lines with everything that you need to get the job done. Starting with their Micro Loop, the Ridge 2.0 features welded loops that are strong and show no visible signs of a step down, allowing for easy leader changes and smooth casting. To make casting even smoother over the course of the line's life, Airflo integrates its 2.0 Ridge Tech, which is a unique system of parallel-running ridges that decrease friction and allow your line to flow freely through your guides. And when you stick a size 1/0 B10S into the jaw of a giant, Airflo's Low Stretch tech is there to ensure you bury the hook deep without any stretch compromising the set.
Uses
Streamers - This line wasn't made to present a size 20 Griffith's Gnat or your favorite version of a Perdigon; instead, it was made to deliver some of the chunkiest, bulkiest, deer-hair forward, marabou-packed, articulated streamers you can tie up. From swinging them across and down to stripping parallel and into your feet, this line's aggressive taper and technologies allow you to cleanly cast small to massive streamers for true predators.
Temp
Cold to Warm - Aiflo designed the Ridge 2.0 Streamer Lines to catch salmonids, so it's rated for use in temps ranging from 23 degrees all the way to the upper 70s. This design lets you strip streamers from the dead of winter into a warm July night, and should you find yourself in the need of an aggressive taper for casting flies at smallmouth in the summer, this line does double-duty perfectly. While this line remains supple across a range of temps, if you put it in a tropical situation, you'd find that it quickly gets limp.
Taper/Weight
More Mass Towards the Front of the Head - Airflo makes this line with an aggressive taper that's spread out across 40'. This head length is a bit longer than most aggressive streamer heads out there, but its design allows you to make long casts while also fishing your fly all the way back to your feet (or the boat). This is a crucial component of a streamer line and will help you convert those last-minute boatside/feetside eats while presenting a wide range of fly sizes and types.
