With a wide range of available sizes, all of which are 2x-long, this hook is a good choice whether you’re tying nymphs (with or without a bead), wet flies, emergers, and even streamers. 

Comparisons 

A hook that’s very similar to the 1710 2X-Long Nymph Hooks is Tiemco’s TMC 5262 Heavy Nymph and Streamer Hook. The TMC 5262 has an almost identical profile to Daiichi’s 1710 and features a 2x-long hook shank that lets you tie just about the same flies with each of these hooks. One difference to note, however, is that Tiemco’s 1710 Hook has a 1x heavy wire and the TMC 5262 has a 2x heavy wire, so if you want a little extra weight, then the Tiemco option would be more suitable. Regardless of which hook you go with, you can rest easy knowing that these are both very reliable choices.
