The Rainbow Warrior has long been a popular trout pattern for picky fish on spring creeks and tailwaters. This tiny nymph is a hybrid between a sowbug and a mayfly. It has colors like rainbow and pearl that are typically found in scud and sowbug patterns with the profile of a mayfly. The weird thing is that it works, and works well. This is a trout fly that should be fished under an indicator as part of a double nymph rig or off of a dry fly as a dropper. This particular version has a tungsten bead that helps it sink quickly, but the original version has a glass bead. Available in multiple colors to help you imitate small insects and fool picky trout, this is truly a must-have pattern for all of the tailwater anglers in the world. The smaller sizes act more like midges, and the larger flies are great mayfly/scud imitations.
