Materials:
Hook: Daiichi 1120 (Size 12)
Bead: Hareline Plummeting Tungsten Bead (7/64, Copper)
Thread: UTC 70D Ultra Thread (Olive)
Body: Hareline Hollow Tubing (Standard, Olive)
Tinsel: Veevus Pearl Tinsel (Large)
Wing: Hareline Ice Dub (Olive Brown)
Collar: Hareline Hare's Ear Plus Dubbing (Hare's Ear)
Step 1

Begin by sliding a Hairline Plummeting Tungsten Bead up to the hook eye. Start your thread just behind the bead and build a small thread dam to hold the bead firmly in place.
Step 2

Cut a 4 inch section of Hairline Hollow Tubing and tie it in just behind the bead on top of the hook shank.
Step 3

Cut a 4 inch strip of Veevus Pearl Tinsel and tie it in at the same point, just behind the bead. Keep all material on top of the hook shank and wrap back to just past the start of the hook bend.
Step 4

Bring your thread forward to just behind the bead and wrap the Pearl Tinsel forward, making sure to cover all thread wraps evenly. Trim the excess tinsel.
Step 5

Using the same technique, wrap the tubing forward with touching wraps to cover the tinsel underneath. Trim the excess tubing.
Step 6

Tie in a small clump of Hairline Ice Dub on top of the hook shank and fold it back over itself, forcing the fibers rearward. Trim to shape to form the wing.
Step 7

Create a small dubbing loop and insert a pinch of Hairline Hare's Ear Dubbing into the loop. Spin the loop until the fibers are secure, then wrap it forward 2–3 times firmly just behind the bead head.
Note: A dubbed noodle teased out with a bodkin works equally well here.
Step 8

Complete 2–3 whip finishes and apply a drop of super glue to the thread head for durability. Your Ice Wing Caddis is ready for the hatch!
