Description

Scott has replaced the much-loved Radian fly rod series with the Centric, their new fast action rod series for performance in a variety of freshwater scenarios. This series has a lot of similarities to the Radian Series and is built for anglers who prefer a fast rod and cast with a quick casting stroke. That being said, it's a little more refined than that. If you haven't cast this brand new series yet, trust us, you'll be glad you did.

Blank

ReAct Technology - ReAct is Scott's proprietary technology for reducing vibrations and increasing recovery speed. It does this by combining their X-Core design with new materials and tapers. The result is a rod that is extremely high performing, yet retains the feel that we've come to expect from Scott.

Multi-Modulus Design - Scott's Centric has a Multi-Modulus blank design that creates smoother rod flex and line recovery by varying fiber tensile modulus throughout the rod. This technology allows Scott to control stiffness and flexibility at every point along the rod blank. The result? Smooth, fine-tuned performance.

Fiberfuse, Arc 2, and Finish - The Centric is made with an advanced Fiberfuse resin that allows superior chemical bonding throughout the rod blank for a stronger fly rod design. Advanced Reinforced Carbon (Arc) adds to the rod's strength and reduces torque. The Centric is also made with hollow internal ferrule technology and a natural, unsanded finish to keep the rod insanely lightweight in hand.

Guides

Titanium Stripping Guides - The titanium stripping guides on the Centric are functional and durable for enhanced freshwater performance. These guides feature super slick zirconia inserts that minimize line friction traveling through the guides so you can make that long-distance cast with ease.

Low-Glare Universal Snake Guides - The low-glare snake guides allow anglers to sneak up on spooky trout easily without being noticed. They're also beautifully durable and highly functional.

Reel Seat

Uplocking w/Micarta Insert - Scott has built a lot of features into the reel seat of the Centric. The all-new fully milled reel seat features speed threads, easy-grip knurling, a self-indexing hood, micarta inserts, and a special Delrin lock washer. To top it all off, the seats are coated in a type 3 flat black hard coat for increased durability.

Rod Tube

Aluminum Rod Tube - The Centric comes with the same ultra-durable aluminum rod tube that comes with all Scott Rods. The tube will protect the rod against even the meanest baggage handlers.

Warranty

Scott Lifetime Warranty - The Scott Centric, like all Scott fly rods, is covered by the Scott Lifetime Warranty, which covers the rod for the life of the original owner. As of August 2020, the cost of these repairs is $50 and the turnaround time is about 6 weeks. Rods must be registered within 30 days of purchase to qualify for the warranty.

Why anglers reach for it

Fast, smooth, and impossibly easy to cast

ReAct recovery, X-Core stability
The Blank

ReAct recovery, X-Core stability

Scott's ReAct technology cuts blank vibration and speeds recovery over an X-Core multi-modulus layup, so the Centric casts fast and stable for quick casting strokes while keeping the feel Scott is known for.
Hardware that shoots line
Guides

Hardware that shoots line

REC Recoil nickel-titanium snakes spring back to shape instead of bending, and titanium SiC stripping guides shoot line with almost no friction. Smoother shoots mean fewer break-offs on the hook set.
A reel seat machined to last
The Seat

A reel seat machined to last

A Type III hard-anodized aluminum seat with a carbon insert locks your reel down for good and shrugs off saltwater and grit. The kind of hardware that outlives the angler.

Hollow internal ferrules and Scott's signature natural, unsanded finish keep the Centric insanely light in hand, and every rod is handcrafted in Scott's Montrose, Colorado shop.

How to Choose a Fly Rod: The Complete Guide

What line weight do I need?

Match the weight to the fish: 3-4wt for small trout and creeks, 5-6wt for all-around trout, 7-8wt for bass and light saltwater, 9wt and up for big game.

Does rod action matter?

Fast rods cast farther and punch through wind; medium and slow rods protect light tippets and feel better up close. Medium-fast is the safest all-around choice.

What length?

A 9' rod is the standard for most fishing. Go shorter for tight, brushy streams and longer for euro nymphing or two-handed casting.

Love it! I’ve never used

"Love it! I’ve never used a 6wt and I took this out to battle windy conditions and it was great. I usually fish a Scott radian 9ft 5wt which did ok for throwing streamers or nymphing in windy conditions. I’m glad I bought the centric, Scott’s are amazing fly rods. The quality is second to none!"
