More attractive than the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Quasimodo Pheasant Tail Fly is a variation of the timeless Pheasant Tail Nymph that has flash, looks buggy, and gets the job done. The Quasimodo Pheasant Tail Fly is a great imitation for mayfly nymphs and a good choice whether you’re on a small freestone stream, large tailwater, or slow limestone creeks. This fly is constructed similarly to the standard Pheasant Tail Nymph, but is tied on a curved hook (notice how the fly looks like it has a “hunched back”--see where its name comes from?) and has a flashback wing case that makes it perfect for fishing over emergences of small mayflies like BWOs.
The Quasimodo Pheasant Tail Fly can be fished both as an attractor or a specific mayfly nymph pattern, and this is a fly that can remain in your arsenal all year long.
