Description
Smallmouth in your favorite river, largemouth in that secret lake that your family has been hitting for generations, spotted bass in the hills of Georgia, peacock bass deep in the canals of southern Florida, it doesn't matter what bass you're after, Cortland has you covered for all of them with their Specialty Bass Fly Line. Combining a 26' intermediate tip with an aggressive taper that's overlined by one full line size, this line has just enough sink to fish a variety of zones and water types while also loading modern rods and delivering large air-resistant flies with ease. When you're fishing in heavy structure or need to pull a snag out without concern for snapping your line, Cortland's X-Strong Core has your back, while their Shooting Technology ensures that hitting the target is never a hassle. Available in line weights 5 through 9, there isn't a bass-fishing situation that this line isn't ready for.
Features
Dual Welded Loops - Whether you're dealing with your backing-to-fly line connection or fly line-to-leader connection, there's no doubt that welded loops greatly simplify things. With their Streamer Intermediate Tip Fly Line, Cortland equips the line with dual welded loops, and with the addition of their Fifty+ Core, you'll never need to worry about one of these loops snapping on a trophy fish.
Shooting Technology (ST) - A technology created to decrease friction in your cast while increasing distance and shoot ability, Cortland's Shooting Technology gives this line a super-smooth finish that will last for your line's life.
X-Strong Core - To meet the needs of strong bass and the places they call home, Cortland utilizes their proprietary X-Strong Core, which has a tough weave and high pick count so you can apply power where you need it.
Uses
Streamers and Crustaceans - With its aggressive taper and overlined construction, this line does a fabulous job at presenting large and heavy streamers. From flies like Bucktail Game Changers to large Hollows and even Clousers, this line makes it easy to cast them all. Should the bass get picky and you need to feed them a worm fly or a crayfish, this line will cast them just as easily.
Temp
Warm/Tropical - With bass being a species best to fish in warm water, Cortland makes this line with a rating that starts at 50 degrees and goes all the way beyond 70. This lets you fish anything from warm rivers and lakes to the tropical waters of southern Florida where peacock bass, snakehead, and various cichlids call home.
Taper/Weight
More Mass Towards the Front of the Head - Cortland's Specialty Bass Fly Line is overweighted by one full line weight and features an aggressive taper with the mass being concentrated towards the front of the head. This configuration makes it easy to present massive flies while loading just about any rod.
