Fly Line Rating Guide
10 - Like New
This line will be essentially indistinguishable from a new line. It may have been spooled up and cast a few times, but the coating is pristine with no dirt, scuffs, or memory. Welded loops (if applicable) are intact.
9 - Almost New
This line has been fished a handful of times. The coating is clean and supple with no cracks or abrasions. It may show very slight discoloration that is only visible under close inspection.
8 - ExcellentThis Item
A great-looking line that's seen a season of light use. Expect some light discoloration or minor scuffing in the coating, but no cracking. The line is full length and the loops are in good shape.
7 - Very Good
A used line with visible wear. Discoloration and scuffing are noticeable, and there may be light wear near the tip. There is no cracking that affects performance. The line casts and floats (or sinks) as intended.
6 - Good
A well-used line. Expect significant discoloration and surface wear, and there may be minor coating cracks or a trimmed tip (noted in the listing). Still a fishable line at a value price. A good cleaning and dressing is recommended.
5 and Below
We see very few of these lines. They will have major coating damage, cracking, or cuts and are best suited for backup use or shorter applications.
Note: The rating does not reflect the condition of the original spool or box. If a spool or box is pictured, it is included.
