Description

From an incoming tide with fish picking off sand eels in 2' of water to a deep drop-off that's loaded with pogies, SA's new Sonar Striper Fly Line is ready for every situation the striped bass puts you in. Built two line sizes heavy with an aggressive taper, this line loads fast-action rods perfectly, allowing you to send long casts and combat the air-resistance of bulkier flies like Hollows and Game Changers. Equipped with SA's Sonar and AST Plus technologies, this line merges ultra-slick shootability with an advanced proprietary sinking formula that gets your flies down and provides hand-to-fly connection during your retrieve. Striped bass are one of those fish that you can chase in a wide range of environments with an even wider variety of fly patterns, and Scientific Anglers' Sonar Striper Line has the performance and versatility you need to find success across all of these situations. Available in line weights 7 through 10 in both an intermediate and I/5/7 sinking configuration, the Sonar Striper gives an option whether you're chasing early-season schoolies or working a rip offshore of Long Island.

Features

AST Plus - When you're looking at a pair of cruising bass, in a foot of water, 65' away, you need confidence that your line is going to get there effortlessly. With SA's AST Plus technology, you can remove all concerns about missing those long-distance shots. AST Plus ensures excellent durability and shootability. AST Plus is SA’s new formulation of their patented dry-slick technology that’s 50% slicker than their previous formula and up to 200% more durable than other lines on the market. A solid addition, AST Plus makes your line float higher, last longer, and shoot further.

Sonar - Technology that helps get your fly into the strike zone and maintain that "sweet spot" depth, SA equips their Sonar Striper Lines with their Sonar Technology. Sonar is a proprietary tungsten formula with a unique taper that provides complete contact with your fly from the time it hits the water to the time you've stripped the fly back to your feet.

Welded Loops - Few additions are as convenient as welded loops on the front and back of your fly line. SA's welded loops give a seamless transition between your line and leader while making those on-the-water swaps nice and easy.

SA Line ID - For quick and easy reference, whether you're spooling up at the house or scrambling to grab the right reel in the parking lot before go-time, SA's Line ID makes things nice and easy. SA's Line ID is an integrated identification system found at the first 1’-2’ tip of the fly line.

Uses

Crustaceans and Streamers - With an intermediate and sinking option, this line can deliver any subsurface fly in your box. From dragging crabs at high tide to working the edge of an incoming tide with a Bendback and all the way to fishing deep drop-offs with a Beast, you can count on the Sonar Striper Line to present them all with ease.

Temp

Moderate to Warm - Designed to pursue striped bass from the end of holdover season, through spring, into summer, and all the way into the end of the fall run, SA built this line to handle moderate to warm water temps. This allows you to fish in any water that striped bass may be swimming through without fail, however, this is not a tropical line and should not be used in a truly tropical setting.

Taper/Weight

More Mass Towards the Front of the Head - With the Sonar Striper Line, SA set out to build a beast of a line that can fit into nearly every striped bass angling situation. Featuring an aggressive 30' taper, this line loads rods deep so that you can present large and heavy flies with ease, while also being able to hold its own in the inclement weather that's so common with pursuing striped bass in New England and the rest of the Atlantic coast.
