Best Tippet
"This is hands down the best tippet material on the market. I use the 5. 5x for dry droppers. Highly recommend!"
Trouthunter Fluorocarbon Tippet - Vanish into the watery world and connect with more fish.
This fluorocarbon tippet material excels when stealth and strength are paramount. Its near invisibility underwater makes it a prime choice for presenting nymphs and streamers naturally, especially to wary trout in clear water conditions. Because fluorocarbon sinks, it helps get subsurface flies down into the feeding zone quickly, proving particularly effective for tight-line nymphing techniques and ensuring streamers track correctly.
Furthermore, its inherent abrasion resistance provides confidence when fishing near rocks, submerged logs, or other structures that could fray lesser materials. While primarily used for subsurface presentations, some anglers employ it in fine diameters for dry flies in challenging, ultra-clear situations where invisibility outweighs concerns about the tippet sinking slightly faster than nylon.
Trouthunter Fluorocarbon Tippet distinguishes itself through exceptional consistency and reliability, offering anglers peace of mind when targeting challenging fish. While often positioned at a premium price point, its remarkable strength-to-diameter ratio and dependable knot performance provide tangible benefits on the water. Anglers trust this tippet because it performs reliably under pressure, minimizing failures and maximizing the chances of landing memorable fish, making the investment worthwhile for serious pursuits.

"the stuff is expensive but worth it"
"This is awesome fluoro. The 6.5 just slices through the water column in a way that even lighter tippets from other brands can’t.That’s not to say the tippets from those brands are bad, it’s just that the Trout Hunter fluoro is that good.It also holds up well when fighting larger fish. You do have to think about how you play the fish. As long as you think about how your going to play a fish from your position before you get casting, you’ll be fine."
"Best flouro money can buy. Sometimes even half size can make a difference on pressured fish. Get some"
"Check the tensile and knot strength against other competing brands and you will see Trouthunter is the strongest.Performs great on streams and rivers as well, as it has a great spool that is easy to remove just the amount you need, knots well, and indeed seems as strong as the rated strength would indicate.I love the 1/2 sizes - the 4.5 is great in deeper rivers with fast current on big fish. We all know the thinner the tippet, the faster it will let your nymphs sink because of less resistance in the water. So the 4.5 is just thinner enough than 4x to get down faster, yet is strong enough in deep, fast rivers on big fish.Same thing for the 5.5 in slightly slower and less deep water on big fish. For those that fish enough, the 1/2 sizes will show the niches where they are useful."
"Went with the 4.5x to match 5x specs. Found this material very easy to tie size 16 and 18 nymph patterns. Not sure if it’s the off white color that makes it easier or the overall stiffness of the tippet. It works for me."
"I love this tippet. One of the best on the market for sure! The only i would change is the rubber band they put around the spools. The tippet comes out too easy and comes out because of it. If Trouthunter put the bands that Rio has on their spools it would easily be a 6/5 star review!"
"Trouthunter tippet is solid. I generally use 5.5x or 6x and have had zero problems landing big fish. It has great knot strength and I have seen a single strand of tippet last through a 100 fish. The only problems I have seen out of this tippet has been some line memory at the end of the spool(it comes out wavy) I have only had that occur on one spool though. Great tippet. I fish a 100 days a year with this tippet."
"This tippet has excellent knot strength and durability. The 5x is great for both nymph rigs and dry rigs. Lots of confidence hooking heavy trout with this tippet. I am glad that I made the switch to Trouthunter fluoro tippet."
"This tippet has excellent knot strength and durability. The 4x works great for small streamer/nymph rigs and drifts nicely in the water. I am glad that I made the switch to Trouthunter fluoro tippet."
