"It broke at the pin on the 5th splice."
"This tool enables you to splice micron backing or make seamless end loops easily. The connections will pass through rod guides without hang-up and never break or slip."
"Great, and thanks to Ben, because others are too large to use on 20lb backing."
"I concur with the previous reviewer that it wasn't "easy" (I have only done one so far). It would have been faster to tie a perfection loop, but the splice is much neater and smoother. Several times, I poked it outside the RIO 20# while trying to feed the tool through the backing. After the first half inch or so, it got a bit easier. I appreciate the low price and the fact that the tool shaft is flat, which keeps it from rolling so the hook on the end is in a controllable orientation. It will take more practice to become quicker at it."
"This is a well made tool, but saying that it “easily” makes splices in 20# backing is a little bit of a stretch. Using 20# Rio backing, I found that th bent music wire method shown on the Rio website was much easier to get started, but not as simple to loop back through. I haven’t tried 30#, but expect it would be a lot easier than the 20#."
"Takes a little practice to get the needle in the center of backing. But once you get the hang of it it’s super easy and a really clean splice"
