Description

Designed to pursue a variety of saltwater species, St. Croix's Imperial Salt is the perfect rod to grab on those days when you can't miss a minute of the tide. Carefully crafted in Park Falls, USA, the Imperial Salt features a fast action that makes fighting strong fish and accurately casting most sized flies into a tough headwind a breeze. This nine foot rod ranges in weights from 7 up to 12, offering true versatility and an ability to tackle most saltwater gamefish, while a price point below $400 ensures that anyone from a beginner to an expert angler doesn't feel priced out. New to their line for 2020, the Imperial Salt is a rod that any saltwater enthusiast will be proud to add to their collection.

Blank

SCIII - The Imperial Salt begins with an SCIII blank that meets St. Croix's proprietary IPC Mandrel Technology. St. Croix's SCIII blank is made with a high-strain graphite fiber and is engineered with their Integrated Poly Curve Technology (IPC) to produce a lightweight, sensitive feel that promotes reactivity without sacrificing rod strength. Unlike other rods on the market, St. Croix's IPC Mandrel Technology removes all transition points on the rod's blank to strengthen, increase sensitivity, and make for smooth rod action.

The Imperial Salt Rod boasts a Deep Aquamarine finish with light blue rod wraps and silver trim.

Guides

Sea Guide PVD coated stripping guides with Zirconia Rings - Designed for the saltwater angler; these deep drawn guides are tough and allow for smooth shooting without any resistance.

Sea Guide PVD coated snake guides - St. Croix's Sea Guide PVD Coated snake guides can handle saltwater environments, have enhanced slickness when shooting line, and tie the whole rod together with a clean look.

Reel Seat

Uplocking, machined-aluminum reel seat - The Imperial Salt's reel seat is built from machined-aluminum to protect from rust and oxidation so you can focus on the water in front of you. Also featuring a full wells handle made of smooth high-grade cork that's equipped with a fighting butt, this rod allows your hand to rest comfortably while giving you the power to drill in on those hard fighting fish. St. Croix finishes things off with an uplocking design so you can always be confident that your reel is securely seated.

Rod Tube

St. Croix ensures that your rod is always safely stored and that travel is a cinch with a durable rod case. A divided polypropylene liner keeps all four sections of your rod safe and secure and a built-in handle allows you to carry your Imperial Salt anywhere from your buddy's backseat to a busy airport terminal.

Warranty

As of December 2020, St. Croix offers a 15-year transferable warranty that's backed by St. Croix Superstar Service. St. Croix's warranty will cover accidental damage, neglect, and regular wear and tear; if the damage occurs due to faulty workmanship, then St. Croix will cover the cost of the repair or replacement for the life of the warranty. This warranty offers two options to anglers so that you can always make the best choice for your budget and fishing plans. For a $50 surcharge, St. Croix asks that you fill out their warranty form and email them pictures of your rod broken at the butt section, after doing that, St. Croix will quickly send you a brand new rod without any further hassle. The second option is to mail your rod back to St. Croix and pay a $25 surcharge and they will repair or replace your rod. While this option is cheaper, it can take up to six weeks to receive your rod back, so keep this in mind during prime fishing season. No matter what you choose, St. Croix will have you sleeping well knowing that your rod is covered by an excellent warranty.

Great rod

"I am almost 50 and have flyfished since i was a young kid. More recently i have dedicated my angling pursuits strictly to the fly rod with the goal of making the fly rod effective on warmwat"

st croix salt water test

"I bought the 8 wt rod knowing I could return it, with Tridents trial policy. when I shook the rod, it felt medium action and was sort of disappointed. I did a test lawn cast with an 8 wt rio outbound. I was really impressed with its power. it felt like the rod was custom made for the outbound line. I was getting 80 ft with little effort. I am fishing the panhandle of Florida. pretty much breezy or windy most fishing days. the rod is listed here as med-action, I checked with st Croix and they said it fast action. after my test cast, I agree, it is fast. this rod really matches my casting stroke."
