Lamson m8
"The Lamson litespeed M8 is an awesome reel really lightweight tough, I used it on my trip to Washington state fishing for coho and pink salmon. Absolutely love this reel"
Lamson’s Litespeed M is the saltwater evolution of one of the most refined reel platforms ever built, pushing the balance of strength, weight, and retrieval efficiency further than most anglers thought possible. Designed around the performance benchmark of retrieve rate per ounce, the Litespeed M proves that lighter doesn’t have to mean weaker. Fully CNC-machined with material precisely distributed along critical load paths, the Litespeed M delivers exceptional stiffness and stability while remaining remarkably light in hand. Outfitted with a marine-specific hybrid drag system and IPX8 waterproof protection, this reel is built for demanding saltwater environments while retaining the elegance and responsiveness that define the Litespeed name. Whether you’re chasing fast-moving flats species with the 6-weight option or hard-pulling offshore predators with the 12, the Litespeed M is engineered to stay smooth, light, and in control during the entirety of the battle.
Super Arbor Lightweight Saltwater Design – The Litespeed M features a Super Arbor format that dramatically increases retrieval speed while decreasing line memory. Lamson’s space frame construction places material only where it’s needed, maximizing rigidity and stability without adding unnecessary mass. The open frame and spool design promote quick line drying and consistent performance across long, unpredictable days on the water.
Precision CNC Machined Finish – Machined entirely from solid stock, the Litespeed M showcases Lamson’s clean, minimalist aesthetic with an emphasis on functional design. Every contour and port is purposeful, reinforcing strength while maintaining the reel’s ultra-light feel.
CNC-Machined Aluminum Construction – The LSM frame and spool are fully machined with close-tolerance bearings to ensure smooth retrieve and long-term durability. A fixed spindle design and carefully engineered load paths deliver exceptional strength-to-weight performance, even under heavy drag pressure.
Cobalt Hybrid Drag System – Built specifically for saltwater use, the Litespeed M’s hybrid drag borrows key elements from Lamson’s flagship Cobalt system. Large heat-wicking conical drag surfaces, a fixed spindle, and an indexing click drag knob provide smooth startup, reliable stopping power, and precise adjustment. Close-tolerance composite bearings and linear spring sets—optimized for each reel size—ensure consistent pressure throughout the fight. With an IPX8 waterproof rating to 100 feet, this drag is fully sealed and ready for the harshest saltwater environments.
Super Arbor – The Super Arbor design maximizes line pickup per rotation, reduces coil memory, and gives anglers the edge when fast fish change direction or take that hard-to-manage run directly towards you.
Lamson Warranty – As of January 2026, Lamson’s Litespeed M Reels are backed by a manufacturer’s warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Normal wear, misuse, or damage from improper maintenance are not covered, and Lamson reserves the right to repair or replace components at their own discretion.

"I own the M6, M8, and M10. The M8 looks large on an 8 weight but balances well with modern rods. I’d consider the M6 for a 7 weight. The M10 is also large (in a good way—the arbor), the drag is phenomenal and this reel also balances 9’ 9 and 10 weight rods well (like Sector, Asquith, etc.). The reels are very strong with great drags and are perfect for Permit and Tarpon at least—maybe overkill for bones but really fun to fish with a quick retrieve. I also use in the salt for cold water species. These reels are low maintenance and worth it—simple but elegant in design and built well in the US to last and to retain relevance. I did have one small issue and LAMSON corrected it immediately without any hassle (the drag knob backed off too far on an M8)."
"Do you take used reels in px"
"Just lost my reel and everything wrapped around it, my house in a fire here in Maui . The first thing I am buying other then clothes and finding a place to live is this lite speed reel again . Got some of the biggest bone fish on this planet that are swimming around along these beaches just giving me the middle fin. As soon as get my fly gear back I will have my sanity back . Starting all over and it’s going to be with this reel . Maui strong !!!!"
