Seasonal Fishing
Calendar
The early season begins as Brook Trout aggressively feed after ice-out. Streamers and large attractor patterns are particularly effective, and fish are often found cruising shallow lake structure and nearby inflows. Late June also brings some of the best mayfly hatches of the season, creating excellent dry-fly opportunities. Northern Pike are active in shallow bays and weed beds, offering exciting action with large streamers and surface flies.
Mid-summer brings consistent fishing and some of the most diverse opportunities of the season. Brook Trout remain active on dries, attractors, and streamers, while mouse patterns and lake fishing can produce explosive takes. Northern Pike continue to provide aggressive action in shallow water. During this period, guests may also arrange optional fly-outs to the nearby Eagle River system to pursue Atlantic Salmon.
Late summer and early fall offer excellent fishing as Brook Trout become increasingly aggressive ahead of the spawn, often producing some of the largest fish of the season. Northern Pike remain available throughout the surrounding lakes and bays. From early August onward, guests can also arrange optional fly-outs to the Torngat Mountains region to target sea-run Arctic Char in shallow coastal waters.
Lodging & Accommodations
Accommodations
Igloo Lake Lodge offers a mix of single and double occupancy accommodations across two well-appointed buildings. The main lodge features five single-occupancy guest rooms, each furnished with a twin bed. Guests staying in the main lodge share two full bathrooms with hot showers, along with access to a central lounge and dining area. The nearby guest cabin, known as the Labrador Room, includes three double-occupancy bedrooms, each with twin beds and a private en-suite bathroom. A shared sitting room and covered veranda provide additional space to relax and take in views of the lake. Both buildings are heated with wood stoves and powered by a combination of solar and generator electricity, supported by a battery backup system. Daily housekeeping, high-speed Wi-Fi, and reliable around-the-clock power ensure a comfortable stay in the heart of the Labrador wilderness.
Food
Dining at Igloo Lake Lodge is comfortable, flexible, and thoughtfully prepared to keep anglers well-fed throughout the week. Each evening, guests select their breakfast from a menu that includes options like eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes, as well as lighter fare such as cereal, muffins, and bagels with cream cheese or jam. Hot coffee and tea are available at all meals, with juice options like orange or apple juice served at breakfast. Lunch is typically enjoyed back at the lodge and may include a variety of hot or cold options. On days when guests are out fishing for the full day - such as trips to Burton’s Pond or fly-outs for Atlantic Salmon or Arctic Char - a cooler lunch is packed. Guests complete a lunch order form the night before, selecting from sandwich or wrap options and sides like fruit, cookies, chips, and bottled water. Guides transport the cooler for a convenient meal on the water. Alcohol is not included in the package, and there is no bar or alcohol stocked at the lodge. The same applies to non-alcoholic beverages such as soda or sparkling water. Prior to the trip, each guest submits a beverage order form with their preferences and payment information. The lodge purchases these items on the guest’s behalf and has them flown in with the floatplane on arrival day.
