Description

A little heavier and a lot more realistic than your standard conehead, Hareline's X-Eyed Cones enhance the look of any streamer in your box. These coneheads come in a few different sizes and are made with nickel or black finishes so that you can fine-tune them to any fly in your box. Unlike standard cones, X-Eyed Cones have a divot that allows you to glue eyes right into your patterns, which makes it easy to achieve a realistic look. Ready for both fresh and saltwater patterns, X-Eyed Cones give a great jigging motion while maintaining a clean and natural look.

Uses

These cones are useful anytime that you want to add weight and/or realistic eyes to a fly that calls for a conehead. These eyes are most commonly used with streamer and leech patterns, and they add a touch of realism that other cones can't.

Comparisons

There are many options for cones on the market, but if you're looking for something that has eyes on them, the only other option is to use Bob Popovics' Tungsten Jiggy Heads. These heads have eyes that are already built in, but they aren't offered in sizes as large as the X-Eyed Cones, so if you're looking to really sink your flies or include a large head, X-Eyed Cones are the way to go.

Example Flies

X-Eyed Cones can be used in a variety of different patterns, but one of the most popular flies that use these cones is the Sculpzilla Streamer.

Note: Use _ eyes for size small; use 5/32 eyes for size medium; use _ eyes for size large.

Haven’t tied with them yet.

"Haven’t tied with them yet. Probably this week. They look to me as a winner for Sculpzilla patterns. Good price. Not available at my local shops."
