Description

Hareline Fly Foam is just the right size for tying high floating Trout, Panfish and Bass flies. Use it for wings and bodies on flies to create waterproof high floating flies that virtually never sink. Match it with one of the River Road creations cutters and the possibilities are endless.

Uses

Patterns and Tying Techniques - This fly foam can be used as a body like in a Chernobyl Ant or a Morrish Hopper. Use it as a wing for caddis or stonefly patterns like the Umpqua Foam Caddis. It is the perfect size for poppers like Crease flies and the Umpqua Swigle Frog. It can also be cut into strips and used as parachute posts.

Comparisons

Fly Foam vs Evazote Foam - Hareline's Fly Foam is available in 17 different colors including fly tying specific colors like Insect Green and Root Beer where Evazote is only available in black or white. The Fly Foam comes with two sheets per pack and the Evazote has four sheets per pack. Fly Foam also tends to hold up better to fish teeth and is more durable. Both take a marker equally well.

Example Flies

Dry Flies - These sheets are perfect for tying dries including Foamulators, Amy's Ant and the Lucent Wing True Hex. They're great for poppers and topwater flies like Crease Flies, Gurglers, and smaller Morrish Mouse patterns. Other flies include crab patterns, cinder worms, dragonflies and Salmon skating patterns.

Pack Size and Physical Description

Approximate Dimensions - These sheets are approximately 3 by 4 inches and are a variety of thicknesses from less than 1mm (Micro) to 6mm.

Norm

"Tried this making some non conventional poppers, great stuff, held up well to many catches, really pops well, caught 2 of the largest Bass of the season using this foam, still floating, excellent"

Norman H. (5/5)

Good product.

"From a tying aspect, it’s a bit stiff. That being said, my cuts have been very clean, and tying it has been easy enough. I haven’t fished it yet, but it seems like a quality product"
