The NS 172 has a curved shank that is designed specifically to represent shrimp species that live in both fresh and saltwater. As it is made out of a lighter gauge wire, it can be successfully fished in shallow water like flats in saltwater or shallow riffles in freshwater. The large gape also makes it easy to add weight by using dumbbell eyes or lead wire wraps if you’re using this hook to fish deeper waters. Versatility is the name of the game with this hook. It has many different applications and some of the best ones probably haven’t even been created yet. As is the standard with Ahrex this hook is equipped with a Black Nickel Finish, available in size 2 – 12, and chemically sharpened with a small barb.
