Important Guidelines

Important Guidelines

  • Trade-In credit CANNOT be used to purchase used gear.
  • Instant quotes are for the newest model year unless stated otherwise.
  • Quotes assume standard number of sections (4pc if available in both 2pc and 4pc).
  • Original accessories must be included (tube, sock, pouch).
  • Missing accessories will reduce value by 5-10%.
  • Custom or modified gear may be rejected or sold through auction.
  • Fly lines are not considered in valuations.

How to Rate Your Gear

10Like New: Essentially indistinguishable from a new rod. Cork may be slightly darker.
9Almost New: Used a few times. Darker cork, minor imperfections in blank.
8Excellent: Lightly used for a season. Cork worn in, some scratches from normal use.
7Very Good: 30+ days on water. Dark cork, visible scratches, minor damage possible.
6Good: Many seasons of use. Very worn cork, many scratches, some damage expected.
5 & BelowPoor: Major issues requiring repair before use.
10Like New: Essentially indistinguishable from a new reel. No marks on the frame or spool.
9Almost New: Used a few times. Faint handling marks, drag system functions perfectly.
8Excellent: Light cosmetic wear from a season of use. Smooth drag, minor surface scratches.
7Very Good: Noticeable cosmetic wear. Some scratches or nicks on the frame, drag still smooth.
6Good: Significant cosmetic wear across frame and spool. Drag functional but may show wear.
5 & BelowPoor: Heavy wear, corrosion, drag issues, or other problems requiring service.

How should I pack my gear?

Use a sturdy box from your post office or shipping hub. If you have a rod tube, place it in the box with paper or bubble wrap. If no tube, wrap the rod with protective material extending beyond each end. DO NOT USE PACKING PEANUTS. Ensure gear isn't loose in the box before shipping.

What's the turnaround time?

We process trades within 3 business days of receiving your gear. Auction options are posted within 5 business days and run for 10 days. Payment clearing takes a few additional days.

How long is my credit valid?

Your gift code expires 1 year from the date it is issued.

Can I get cash instead of credit?

For select rods and reels, we can provide a cash offer; however, it will be significantly lower than our store credit offer. Contact us for details, but please note that the cash offer may not meet your expectations.

What if I have rare equipment?

If you have special equipment or we cannot determine fair market value, we will likely suggest the auction option for the best return.
