Whether you need a 7 weight to target cruising beach snook or a 12 weight to tackle larger pelagics and massive tarpon, Lamson’s Cobalt Rods have you covered. The Cobalt is a super-fast rod designed for fishing in saltwater environments–on the beach, in a skiff, wading a tidal river, or deep in a mangrove jungle, this series of rods offer the versatility to do it all. Designed with a focus on power, fast line speeds, ease of casting in windy conditions, and an ability to quickly recast when you miss a shot at a moving fish, the Cobalt is the perfect tool for chasing saltwater fish that are always on the go. Made in line weights 6 through 12 in a 9’ length, the Cobalt has an option for just about any fish you’ll find in the ocean, and with solid componentry like a cork/composite grip, Lamson’s Lockdown reel seat, and titanium framed guides, this is a rod that you’ll be fishing for years to come.
Blank
High Modulus Graphite - Lamson’s Cobalt series of rods is built from a High Modulus Graphite with a fast-action. With this action and material choice, the Cobalt gives a lightweight feel and an ability to shoot tight loops and make long casts, even in windy conditions.
For those blue sky days in the salt, the Cobalt is made with a Sky Grey finish that includes darker grey accenting wraps with a metallic blue trim. Not only does this grey color look good in your hand, but it provides minimal contrast against the sky and will not reflect light or spook fish–that cruising permt that’s seen it all just got a whole lot easier to hook with this color rod in your hand.
Guides
Titanium Frame Stripping Guides w/ Silicone Carbide Inserts - The Cobalt’s Titanium Stripping Guides with Silicone Carbide Inserts offer excellent line shootability in a durable package. These guides are a solid addition to this rod and they’re also anti-corrosive so you don’t need to worry about salty envirnoents wreaking havoc. Rod weights 7 through 12 come with double stripping guides, while the 6 weight option has single stripping guides that are a little more lightweight.
Stainless Steel Hard Chrome Snake Guides - Another solid addition to the Cobalt series is their Stainless Steel Hard Chrome Snake Guides. These guides are also lightweight and super slick, and their oversized construction lets line move a little more freely.
Reel Seat
Anodized Aluminum - Lamson added a machined anodized aluminum reel seat to their Cobalt series. This reel seat is super lightweight and anti-corrosive, making it an excellent addition for the saltwater angler that’s casting all day long, year after year.
Lockdown Reel Seat - Lamson’s Lockdown Reel Seat gives a new evolution of reel seating. Designed to ensure consistent locking of your reel, this reel seat locks your reel by the sides, instead of at the curve of the foot. This design works flawlessly during tougher fights as well as those week long stretches when your rod lives in your car and you’re too busy fishing to worry about tightening reel seats.
Rod Tube
Equipped with a cloth rod sock and Cordura-covered tube, your Cobalt will rest safely whether it’s resting in a boat or strapped to your luggage on a ten-hour flight.
Warranty
Lamson’s Cobalt Rods come with a lifetime warranty that covers parts and labor but does not cover damages caused by things like misuse, improper maintenance, and modifications. Lamson also offers a repair on your rods for the price of $50. And Lamson understands how important it is to get their customers back on the water quickly, so as of August 2022, they pledge to get your reel back to you within two weeks of arriving at their warehouse.
