Innovative Porting – The Torque's visually striking appearance comes from its distinctive cut-outs on the frame, spool, drag knob, and reel foot. These aren't just cosmetic, as this design significantly reduces weight while maintaining rigidity and structural strength. Rounded spool and frame rims enhance durability, helping the reel withstand hard impacts in tough angling conditions, while a highly ventilated spool and frame balance beautifully with today's lightweight rods and allows your backing to dry quickly after long days in the water.

Anodized Finish – The Torque is finished with a corrosion-resistant anodized coating built to handle harsh environments. From freshwater rivers to saltwater shores, the protective finish resists wear, impact, and corrosion, ensuring long-term durability.

Machined 6061 Aluminum Construction – Precision-machined from 6061 aluminum, Galvan's Torque delivers strength and corrosion-resistance without unnecessary bulk. When we published our 8-weight shootout, the two comments we got most of all was "why did you test [Galvan and Nautilus]." So naturally, we tested them both this time. The Galvan Torque is their top-of-the-line reel. While not excactly new to the market, the Torque is beautifully machined and comes from a great family-run business in California. We're excited to see how it does against the big boys!

"This is a great reel. Well made and smooth. I have the T-5 on a NRX+LP 5wt. I wasn’t paying attention when I got it and the T-5 is for 5-6 wt applications. It’s a little big and just a little heavy. But that’s my fault for not paying better attention. At some point I’ll get a T-4 and put the T-5 on a 6wt. I don’t know why they’re not more popular."

"The Galvan is certainly a decent option. Things I liked were the lightweight frame and the easy to use drag nob and spool release. I gotta say, the range of drag on this is pretty awesome, you can really dial in the exact amount of drag you want. That said I ended up returning this reel, I purchased the T-4 and did not like how small the handle was. If this reel was cheaper, I would really like it, but for that price, there are other options that I think are better (Ross, Abel)."
"I have the T-5 matched up with my GLoomis IMX Pro 6wt and it balances perfectly. The machining is top notch and drag is so smooth. The range of drag is also impressive as well as the overall weight. One of the nicest features though is the quick release for the spool. I wish more brands incorporated that into their design. The Galvan Torque is real winner."
