A spin on a classic and a fly that’s tough to beat when Euro nymphing, the Frenchie Jig Tungsten Bead Fly gets deep fast and does an excellent job at fooling fish. Taking inspiration from Lance Egan’s famous Frenchie Fly, the Frenchie Jig Tungsten Bead Fly features a body of wire-ribbed pheasant tail, a hotspot of Ice Dubbing, and is tied on a jig hook and equipped with a heavy tungsten bead. With this slim profile and buggy appearance, this is a fly that sinks quickly and imitates things like mayfly nymphs and even some caddis larvae.

A great fly for fishing fast and deep water, running through pockets, using Euro nymphing tactics, or dead drifting under an indicator, the Frenchie Jig Tungsten Bead Fly is an effective nymph almost anywhere you take it. The Frenchie Jig Tungsten Bead Fly is a nymph that can be fished any day of the year, and it seems to work especially well at the start of spring. Carry it in sizes 12-16 and you’ll find that this is a fly that you should never leave at home.
