Fly Tied by Surface Seducer Flies

Professionally Tied | Free Shipping over $49 | Low Price Guarantee

The Surface Seducer Double Barrel Slider Fly is a foam-head component designed for tying topwater patterns. This soft-foam body works as a popper, slider, or diver depending on how you orient it on the hook shank. With the cupped face forward, it creates a classic popper that displaces water and generates noise. Reversed with the cup facing back, it produces a slider or diver that tracks just under the surface with a subtle wake. The same body can be trimmed differently for a Sneaky Pete style presentation.

How To Use It

For warmwater species, short, sharp strips with pauses will get panfish and bass to commit. For saltwater applications on the larger sizes, longer strips with varied cadence let you imitate a fleeing baitfish pushing a wake. Work it around structure, over grass lines, or across current seams where predators are staged and waiting.

When To Use It

Topwater fishing works best during low-light periods at dawn and dusk, though overcast midday sessions can produce when fish feel bold enough to look up. In stained water, the popper configuration pushes more disturbance and helps fish locate the fly. In clear, calm conditions, use the slider orientation for a subtler profile that won't spook wary targets.

What's Inside

The soft foam compresses on the hook shank and grips without spinning, which means fewer thread wraps and less frustration at the vise. The body accepts adhesives cleanly, takes marker colors well, and resists cracking or chipping. Available in Black, White, and Yellow Chartreuse across sizes 2 and 6.

Comparisons

Surface Seducer Double Barrel Slider Fly vs Boogle Bug Popper:

The Boogle Bug is a finished, ready-to-fish foam popper with legs and rubber appendages built in. The Double Barrel is a tying component, so you're building the fly yourself and controlling every variable, from tail material to hook choice to color scheme. Choose the Double Barrel if you tie your own flies and want creative control. Choose the Boogle Bug if you want a finished fly ready to cast.

Surface Seducer Double Barrel Slider Fly vs Traditional Cork Popper Body:

Cork poppers have been around for a long time and work effectively. Cork is rigid and prone to cracking, and often requires drilling or gluing to mount on a hook shank. The Double Barrel's soft foam slides onto the shank cleanly and stays put under thread tension. It's lighter, more durable, and easier to shape or modify at the vise.

Surface Seducer Double Barrel Slider Fly vs Surface Seducer Double Barrel Popper Body (Loose Bodies):

The loose popper bodies are sold unfinished so you mount them on your own hooks and tie a complete fly from scratch. The Slider Fly version comes pre-tied on a hook, ready to fish or ready to serve as a starting point you can modify. Choose loose bodies if you want maximum customization and already have your preferred hooks. Choose the pre-tied Slider Fly if you want a head start or want to get on the water faster.
