Design
Partially Ported Design – The Vaya features a partially ported frame that strikes a balance between reduced weight and increased rigidity, while still showcasing Abel’s signature finishes. The interior of the frame includes CNC-milled fly pattern silhouettes specific to each reel size, adding a subtle, functional design detail tied to the reel’s intended application. A quick-change spool system with a proven O-ring release allows for fast and secure spool swaps, and the reel is easily convertible between left- and right-hand retrieve.

Materials
Machined Aluminum Construction – Built from high-grade machined aluminum, the Vaya delivers a strong yet lightweight platform designed for balance and long-term durability. Precision machining ensures tight tolerances and smooth operation, while the integrated design maintains structural integrity across a range of fishing conditions.

Drag
Carbon and Stainless Steel Multi-Disc Drag System – The Vaya utilizes a five-disc alternating carbon and stainless steel drag stack to deliver smooth, consistent resistance with a wide range of adjustability. The dual-pawl drag engagement system eliminates the need for a counterweight, contributing to a naturally balanced feel. With strong stopping power and refined control, the drag system performs equally well when protecting light tippet or applying pressure to more aggressive fish.

Arbor Size
Large Arbor – The large arbor spool increases line retrieval speed and reduces line memory, improving efficiency during long casts and fast runs. This design also enhances backing capacity and overall balance, making the Vaya ready for rod weights ranging from 4wt through 8wt.

Warranty
Abel Lifetime Warranty – Abel’s Vaya Reels are backed by a lifetime warranty covering the repair or replacement of parts due to defects in materials or workmanship. The warranty applies only to the original owner and is valid exclusively for products purchased through an authorized Abel dealer. Abel will determine whether an issue qualifies for warranty coverage based on material or manufacturing defects. For older or discontinued models, replacement parts may be substituted with current-production components, and cosmetic finishes may vary from the original. Products purchased through auction sites or unauthorized marketplaces are not eligible for warranty coverage. Repairs that fall outside of warranty coverage can still be serviced by Abel, with a repair quote provided for approval before any work is completed.
