I tried this line on
"I tried this line on a Sage Sonic 7 wt. It casts great. I tried it with an indicator and Clouser minnow for speckled trout and wade fishing for redfish. I intend to get one in six and eight weight also."
SA's nymph-specific Amplitude Smooth Anadro line is designed for the double nymph rig enthusiast who needs to turn over bulky rigs in all conditions. It's a line that's designed to increase casting range, mending ability, and big-fish-fighting capabilities. Choose this line for Steelhead, Salmon, streamers, nymphs, and much more. While it is a somewhat specialized line, it can be used for a variety of species and on some of the largest rivers in the world. If you've been looking for a line that combines power, distance, and accuracy, this is a great option.
AST Plus Slickness - SA has built a number of important features into this line. AST Plus Slickness allows anglers to quickly shoot line with friction-minimizing performance. Welded loops on both ends allow easy leader/backing attachment. A braided multifilament core is strong and supple for versatility and durability. The Amplitude Smooth Anadro line isn't textured like the Amplitude version but still provides ultimate shooting capabilities and floating capabilities.
Long-Line Nymphing, Big Rivers - This is a heavy line built for heavy nymph rigs, distance casting, and big rivers. The extended taper and oversized head allow anglers to turn over bulky rigs efficiently without having to worry about wind or weather. This is a great line choice if you're nymphing large rivers, for Steelhead fishing, and for heavier flies/rigs in a still water setting. This isn't a line for dry fly fishing or for delicacy. As a highly specialized line, it's not for everyone but it truly is efficient at turning over big rigs. It's also a great streamer line and doubles as a line for poppers and bass bugs.
Cold/Moderate - This line is made to be used in cold and moderate climates including freshwater streams and rivers, lakes almost any climate. That being said, this line will turn limp in tropical climates and isn't meant to be used in high heat.
1.5 Line Sizes Heavy, Heavy Rig Turnover - The taper and head dimensions of this fly line are built to turn over heavy indicator/double nymph rigs. The WF5F version of the line has a 60' head length (that's really long) and a first 30' weight of 175 grains or 11.3 ounces. This means that it's 1.5 line sizes heavy which is really significant. The long, heavy head allows anglers to push bulky rigs through high-wind at longer distances.
Best for: Freshwater, Nymphing
Loops: Front Loop (Leader to Fly Line Connection) and Back Loop (Backing to Fly Line Connection)
