The new for 2020 Zane Carbon reels feature a refined, lightweight, durable new saltwater reel design. Hardy took what they learned in the MTS-X freshwater reel and built a hybrid carbon fiber/aluminum frame to make the Zane Carbon lighter without sacrificing structural rigidity and durability. They added a fully sealed saltwater drag system and some important design features to make this.
Design
Hybrid Frame Design - We've seen Hardy make hybrid frames before on freshwater reels like the MTX-S. This time, Hardy has taken those design features and built an extra-durable, fully-sealed saltwater reel for a variety of saltwater angling scenarios. And, like the MTX-S, this is one of the lightest saltwater fly reels on the market. Hardy is truly at the top of the game when it comes to building reels that are lighter, more durable, and more high-performing than ever before.
Finish
Type II Anodized Finish - The two-tone anodizing on the Zane Carbon is rigid and strong to preserve the structure of the reel and to increase durability. Type II anodizing holds up well to dings and scrapes. It also protects the reel from harsh weather conditions, corrosion, and ensures high performance for the lifetime of the reel.
Materials
Carbon Fiber/ Aluminum - The Zane Carbon features a hybrid carbon fiber frame and an aluminum spool. The reel's carbon fiber frame/aluminum frame decreases overall reel weight without sacrificing structural integrity. The combination of these materials makes the Zane Carbon one of the lightest saltwater reels on the market.
Drag
Type - The Zane Carbon is built on a fully-sealed disc drag system. Disc drags offer strong fish-stopping abilities and easy drag adjustability. This particular drag is sized perfectly to fit any saltwater angler's needs without adding too much weight to the reel.
Materials - The disc drag on the Zane Carbon is made with carbon fiber composite materials. Hardy has utilized carbon composites to keep the drag system lightweight without sacrificing strength or longevity.

Warranty
Hardy Limited Warranty - As of August 2020, Hardy warrants that their reels will be free from material defects in design, material, and workmanship for a period of 5 years from the date on which it was originally purchased. The warranty, like many others, doesn't cover damage from misuse, negligence, or wear and tear. Hardy does repair reels. The service fee is $35 plus replacement parts for repair.
