Whenever movement and flashy appearance are at the top of your list, the Zonker Streamer is just the right choice. Tied by Dan Byford in the 70s, the Zonker Streamer took inspiration from New Zealand streamers to provide a realistic baitfish imitation that swam well in the water and could imitate everything from large chubs to small shiners. Pairing a body of mylar tubing with a Zonker Strip back allows this fly to undulate in the water while adding just the right amount of flash, and this is a fly that you can count on to catch anything from large trout to hungry Northern Pike.

The Zonker Streamer Fly can be fished just about any time of the year and is a perfect choice when baitfish are on the menu. And though it’s a fly with versatility when choosing color and size, some staples are all white or olive in 2 through 6. Given the Zonker Strip construction, this is a fly that moves well whether you’re dead drifting, swinging, or stripping through a weedy pond, and you can rely on this fly to fish well in just about any environment. When you’re looking to dial in those predatory fish, the Zonker Streamer is a fly that you should always have on your side.
