Uses
Holographic Tinsel can be used for a ton of different tying purposes. A few of the most common uses of Veevus’ Holographic Tinsel are wrapping bodies on nymphs, streamers, and midges, but you can also use it to imitate a cracked wingcase on nymphs/emergers or as a flashy rib whenever you need just a little bit of light reflection.
Comparisons
As far as flashy tinsels go, UNI Clear Mylar Tinsel is a close alternative to Veevus’ Holographic Tinsel. However, there is one large difference between the two because, as implied by its name, UNI Clear Mylar Tinsel has a clear appearance and Holographic Tinsel does not. Since each has a little different appearance, one may provide the desired effect a bit better, but regardless of your choice, you can rest easy knowing that both of these are high-quality tinsels that provide an attractive look to your flies.
