UNI Yarn

Whenever you want to quickly and consistently wrap bodies on your flies, UNI-Yarn is the way to go. UNI-Yarn is a 2-strand acrylic yarn with a slightly “buggy” appearance to it, and since it’s spooled, you can wrap it with your bobbin for ease of use and excellent consistency. UNI-Yarn offers excellent tying versatility and can be used for things like nymph/emerger bodies just as well as you can use it to tie streamers and salmon/steelhead flies. These spools come with 17 yards of UNI-Yarn and they’re available in a ton of effective colors. 

Uses

UNI-Yarn is a material that’s easy to use and has a ton of different applications. While its most commonly used to wind bodies on nymphs, wet flies, and emergers, it can also be used to tie bodies on streamers and salmon/steelhead flies and as a tailing material. Although UNI-Yarn doesn’t have a super thick diameter, it’s easy to build up thicker bodies by making more passes. 

Comparisons 

UNI-Yarn is a pretty unique material without any clearcut alternatives. With that said, you could simply dub a body to get a similar effect; doing this would allow you to dial in the exact amount of “bugginess” that you’d like, but it will take more effort than quickly winding a body with UNI-Yarn.
