One of the lightest fly rods on the market, Taylor’s Anomaly Z Fly Rod, as its name implies, is a real anomaly among trout fly rods. One of the first fly rod companies to utilize graphene, the Anomaly Z Fly Rod has an incredibly lightweight construction (the 5wt version of this rod weighs only 2.69 ounces) that has no trouble putting the power to bulky flies and even bulkier fish. A fast/medium action fly rod that comes in an 8’6” 4wt and a 9’ 5 and 6wt, the Anomaly Z was built with Taylor’s classic Anomaly taper and can deliver anything from small dry flies to meaty streamers. Ready for anything from tight streams and dry flies to larger river streamer tactics (and even rated to be saltwater safe), the Anomaly Z makes for smooth casting and excellent accuracy no matter where you end up.
Ultra-high Modulus Carbon Fiber and Graphene Blank - Taking an innovative approach to fly rod blank construction, Taylor builds their Anomaly Z out of ultra-high modulus carbon fiber and graphene to deliver one of the lightest weight rods on the market. Although this fly rod is super lightweight, it has the power to handle large fish and deliver large flies with accuracy and stealth, and with such a light feel, this is a rod that you can cast all day long without fatigue. Combining a focus on minimal weight with a fast/medium action and Taylor’s Anomaly taper gives the Anomaly Z smooth casting and effective rod loading that you’ll love. And to keep things looking sharp, Taylor makes their Anomaly Z in a matte blue finish that resembles those deep, healthy plunge pools.
Cericoil Titanium Stripping Guides and Titanium Recoil Single Foot Guides -Taking a lightweight and durable approach to the Anomaly Z’s guides, Taylor outfits this rod with cericoil titanium stripping guides and titanium recoil single foot guides. Both of these are nice and lightweight while allowing for excellent line shooting and long term durability that resists breaking.
Carbon Fiber Reel Seat - Matching a high quality build with a high quality reel seat, Taylor’s Anomaly Z has an engraved carbon fiber reel seat. Made to be super lightweight and sport the classic Taylor logo, this reel seat gives a nice aesthetic addition while ensuring that your reel remains secure no matter how long the fish is fighting.
Aluminum Tube with Fast Drying Rod Sock - A durable addition that’s always ready for travel, Taylor’s Anomaly Z comes with a laser engraved aluminum rod tube and fast drying sock. A perfect combination whether you’re in a busy airport or just storing your rod after a day’s work, this storage system looks great and can stand up to any abuse.
As of January 2021, Taylor offers an original owner lifetime warranty for repair or replacement of your rod. This warranty covers manufacturer’s defects and may not cover direct or indirect damage caused by using the product. There will be a $50 warranty processing charge for repaired or replaced rods, and all rods must be shipped back to Taylor by the original owner for warranty processing.
