A perfect imitation for sowbugs, the Sow Bug Fly is an essential part of any nymphing box. While sowbugs might not be the first critter that comes to mind whenever thinking about nymphing, they are a common food source and make for an effective fly, especially in clear waters filled with cress and other vegetation where these crustaceans call home. Tied with a picked out dubbing body and completed with a clear ribbed shellback, the Sow Bug Fly does a great job at imitating cress bugs and can even match a scud if you find yourself with no other option.
