Designed by master fly angler Bob Clouser, the Skinny Water Minnow Fly takes inspiration from the venerable Clouser Deep Minnow but reduces weight so you don’t need to worry about spooking fish. Swapping the lead eyes for bead chain eyes, this fly penetrates the water’s surface with much less commotion while maintaining the classic bucktail and flash body that’s been catching fish for decades.

A great choice on flats, in small tidal estuaries, or small streams, the Skinny Water Minnow is an excellent pattern that catches anything from stripers to large river bass. A versatile fly, the Skinny Water Minnow can be fished on a floating, intermediate, or full sink line and should have a stripped retrieve to really maximize its movement. Common in sizes 2-6 with chartreuse over white or pink over white being being the most popular colors, the Skinny Water Minnow is a fly that you’ll quickly find can fool any number of fish.
