Scientific Anglers SONAR Sink 25 Coldwater Fly Line

This line is the perfect combination of an extra-fast sinking head and a large diameter handling section for superb line control. In today’s world, many of the premier sinking lines aren’t exactly caster-friendly. This line, however, manages to partner an extremely effective sinking tip with a manageable running line to improve castability and control. This is a great line for river fishing, pocket water streamer fishing, and any cold water scenario when a sinking line is ideal.

Features

AST, SONAR Sinking Technology - SA has built a number of important features into this line. AST Plus Slickness allows anglers to quickly shoot line with friction-minimizing performance. Welded loops on both ends allow easy leader/backing attachment. A braided multifilament core is strong and supple for versatility and durability. This version of the SONAR Sink 25 also features a durable sink tip with a seamless transfer to the floating running line for castability and practicality.

Uses

Cold Water Streamer Fishing, Sinking Line - The largest difference between this line and the Sink 30 is the floating running line (Sink 25) instead of the intermediate running line (Sink 30). The Sink 25 is ideal for pocket water streamer fishing and mid-depth lake fishing when you don’t need the extra sinking capabilities of an intermediate running line. That being said, the tip gets down extremely quickly and sinks at up to 8 inches per second.

Temp

Cold/Moderate - This line is made to be used in cold and moderate climates including freshwater streams and rivers, lakes almost any climate. This is a great line for Trout, Bass, Steelhead, Salmon, and other cold water species. That being said, this line will turn limp in tropical climates and isn’t meant to be used in high heat.

Taper/Weight

Extremely Short, Fast Sinking Head - This is a line designed to get your flies down quickly. The 25’ head and 20’ handling section make this more than just an aggressive sinking line. The handling section means it’s easy and efficient to cast at long distances and the short, heavy head helps load fast-action rods at short range. The line is available in sizes from 150 grain to 350 grain for a variety of models to fit any freshwater coldwater scenario.
