The Sage X Spey Rod has been discontinued.

We recommend the Sage Spey R8 as an alternative.

The X Spey series from Sage is innovation at work. Lighter, more efficient, and more caster friendly than ever before, Sage has created the X to cater to expert Spey casters and beginners alike. New KonneticHD technology means the rod blank is crafted to load deep into the butt section of the rod for increased power. The power of the X Spey makes distance casting effortless and easy. A crisp fast action makes the X Spey a pleasure to cast in all circumstances. If you’re thinking about the two-handed game, it doesn’t get much better than the X Spey.

Blank

KonneticHD Technology - Sage has completely redefined graphite technology with KonneticHD. By restructuring the graphite-to-resin ratio used in rod blanks, Sage has introduced a higher density fiber composite that’s lighter, stronger, and more versatile on the water. With KonneticHD, the X Spey rod has incredibly efficient energy transfer capabilities, perfected rod stiffness, and element-defying durability. What does all this mean? Tighter loops, faster line speed, and superior two-handed casting ability.

Guides

Fuji Ceramic Stripping Guides - Fuji Ceramic Stripping Guides allow anglers to shoot line effortlessly when casting the Sage X Spey. Fuji guides also have a durable design to minimize weathering and wear on the river.

Hard Chromed Snake Guides - Snake guides offer industry-accepted performance and time-proven durability.

Reel Seat

Downlocking w/Black Anodized Aluminum - The Sage X Spey has a reel seat that is corrosion resistant and weatherproof. Stealth black anodized aluminum protects against wear and a downlocking component locks large Spey reels in place. The handle of the X Spey is made with top-notch, Super Plus grade cork that’s smooth in hand and perserveres though seasons on the water.

Rod Tube

Powder Coated Aluminum Rod Tube - The X Spey comes in a classic evergreen powder coated aluminum rod tube with the easily identifiable Sage medallion. The aluminum rod tube keeps the X safe during travel and time off of the water.

Warranty

The Sage Lifetime Warranty - Every new Sage rod, blank and Sage reel is covered by a lifetime, original owner warranty. One of the finest warranties in the business, it covers defects in materials or workmanship as well as rods that fail due to misuse, negligence, or normal wear-and-tear. Sage charges a $75 processing fee for the warranty.
