Sage has replaced the old Sage Salt with the newer Sage Salt HD. As the appended ‘HD’ suggests, the largest difference in the two rods is the blank technology. The Salt HD promotes Sage’s newest rod tech, KonneticHD Technology. The new and improved rod blank means the Salt HD is a highly capable weapon for all saltwater applications. The rod is smooth and accurate, especially at classic flats fishing distances. Sage’s upgraded rod technology makes this rod one of the most caster-friendly saltwater rods on the market.

KonneticHD Technology - Sage’s KonneticHD tech creates rods that are lighter and stronger. Advanced high density fiber positioning allows increased strength-to-weight ratios and industry-leading rod durability. Optimized fiber-to-fiber energy transfer dampens rod vibration to allow smooth, tight loops and a crisp casting stroke. This new technology partners with new proprietary graphite/resin composite materials from exclusive Sage partnerships to encourage insanely high performing rod blank design.

Guides

Oversized Ceramic Stripping Guides - The Salt HD features three oversized ceramic stripping guides. Oversized guides allow the angler to quickly pick up and cast large amounts of fly line when angling out of a boat or on the flats.

Oversized Hard Chromed Snake Guides - Similarly, oversized hard chromed snake guides accommodate larger saltwater fly lines and large fish. Snake guides are common in contemporary fly fishing due to their functionality and durability.

Reel Seat

Uplocking w/Anodized Aluminum - The reel seat on the Salt HD is made with a stealth black anodized aluminum and promotes a double uplocking component. Anodized aluminum is time-tested in saltwater conditions and the double uplocking component is strong enough to anchor the largest saltwater reels.

Rod Tube

Blue Powder Coated Aluminum - The Salt HD comes with a blue aluminum rod tube to protect the rod during transport and storage. The classic saltwater blue rod tube matches the rod’s blue trim wraps.

Warranty

The Sage Lifetime Warranty - As of January 2021, Every new Sage rod, blank and Sage reel is covered by a lifetime, original owner warranty. One of the finest warranties in the business, it covers defects in materials or workmanship as well as rods that fail due to misuse, negligence, or normal wear-and-tear. Repair fees are based on the age of the rod and Sage charges a $30 processing fee for rods that are part of the current lineup.
