The Motive is a saltwater powerhouse. Sage has designed the Motive to take on the largest saltwater gamefish with a strong butt section and a fast action blank with Graphite IIIe Technology. The Bluefin Blue blank color of the rod is fitting for saltwater expeditions and will blend in seamlessly on the flats. The Motive allows anglers to fish in style and with confidence on the water.

Graphite IIIe Technology - Sage’s Graphite IIIe Tech produces rod blanks that are stronger and lighter. A combination of proprietary carbon/resin composite materials and modulus positioning increases the strength of the Motive along the entire length of the rod. A glass scrim and graphite layered construction provide extreme durability and high-performance. The result is a rod with dynamic lifting power and the ability to wrangle even the largest saltwater species.
Guides
Oversized Ceramic Stripping Guides - The motive features three oversized ceramic stripping guides. Oversized guides allow the angler to quickly pick up and cast large amounts of fly line when angling out of a boat or on the flats.
Oversized Hard Chromed Snake Guides - Similarly, oversized hard chromed snake guides accommodate larger saltwater fly lines and large fish. Snake guides are common in contemporary fly fishing due to their functionality and durability.
Reel Seat
Uplocking w/Anodized Aluminum - The reel seat on the Motive is made with black anodized aluminum and promotes a double uplocking component. Anodized aluminum is time-tested in saltwater conditions and the double uplocking component is strong enough to anchor the largest saltwater reels. The reel seat matches the black trim wraps and the black fighting butt of the Motive.
Rod Tube
Ballistic Nylon Rod Tube - The Motive comes with a ballistic nylon rod tube to protect the rod during transport and storage. The rod tube is Bluefin Blue in color and matches the blank color of the Motive.
Warranty
The Sage Lifetime Warranty - As of January 2021, Every new Sage rod, blank and Sage reel is covered by a lifetime, original owner warranty. One of the finest warranties in the business, it covers defects in materials or workmanship as well as rods that fail due to misuse, negligence, or normal wear-and-tear. Repair fees are based on the age of the rod and Sage charges a $30 processing fee for rods that are part of the current lineup.
